Typhoon Tinting Wreaks havoc in the Pacific

Asia (HDW) June 27, 2004 - Even as a tropical storm, Typhoon Tingting brought huge amounts of rain to the western Pacific. On June 27, 2004, Tingting dumped 16 inches of rain on Guam in the Northern Mariana Islands. By the time this true-color image was acquired on June 29, 2004, Tingting had strengthened into a typhoon with 92 mile per hour winds that gusted up to 115 mph. Over the course of the next 24 hours, the winds weakened to 75 mph with 92 mph gusts, though it continued to drop significant amounts of rain on the region.
